This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to establish utilities infrastructure work sites.

It includes planning and scheduling work, organising resources, materials, procedures and the site for required utilities work activities in accordance with relevant legislation, industry standards, codes of practice and workplace procedures and complete work and relevant documentation.

Prepare to establisha utilities work site

1.1

Work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS), environmental and sustainable energy control measures and workplace policies and procedures for the site are identified, obtained and applied

Job requirements for the work site are obtained and discussed with relevant persons/ to confirm the work schedule

Hazards are identified and reported to relevant person/s to assess risks and control measures implemented in accordance with workplace procedures

Work is confirmed with relevant person/s in accordance with job requirements and workplace procedures

Resources, equipment, tools, materials, drawings, notices and personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the work are identified, obtained and checked for correct operation and safety in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturer instructions

Responsibilities for work site safety and emergency response procedures for an incident at the work site are checked and confirmed with relevant person/s in accordance with workplace procedures
